I am Brent Tiedemann, and this adventure started in the summer of 2020. In the midst of Covid-19, with restaurants in lockdown, my smokers were running pretty steady, and I was searching for some Canadian options for pellets. I came across some pellets that were produced in Ontario, and started searching for where I could purchase some of these pellets in Northwestern Alberta. After calling the manufacturer, I became aware that there were no retailers for his brand within 5 hours. So, I purchased 12,000lb of Pitmasters Choice Premium Hardwood Pellets, and started selling smoker pellets! Shortly after obtaining my pellets, I thought I may as well sell some rubs and sauces as well, and I applied for and obtained a permit to import food products into Canada from the US. I started importing products from Pitmasters like Malcom Reed, Heath Riles, and Chris Marks. In staying with the "Buy Canadian" motto, I also brought in some products from Motley Que (Edmonton), Bow Valley BBQ (Canmore), House of Q (Vernon, BC), and Prairie Smoke & Spice (Pilot Butte, SK). Eventually that lead to the thought that I needed to add some smokers to my offerings, and maybe some accessories. Shortly thereafter I started providing Grills and Smokers from Pit Boss, Louisiana Grills, and Country Smokers. Needless to say, my backyard garage quickly transformed into the GP Smokin' Pellets & Rub Store!
