About
APPLE Schools (A Project Promoting healthy Living for Everyone) is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting healthy kids in healthy school communities. As an innovative, school-focused health promotion initiative, APPLE Schools partners with vulnerable school communities to create environments where children can build lifelong healthy habits, develop leadership skills, and thrive.
Using the Comprehensive School Health approach, APPLE Schools works alongside students, educators, families, and communities to make healthy choices easier choices. Through a research-backed model, evidence-informed strategies, professional learning, and ongoing support, APPLE Schools helps schools build a culture of health that supports healthy eating, physical activity, mental well-being, and overall student wellness.
In 2024, APPLE Schools expanded to Grande Prairie, partnering with Alexander Forbes Public School, Avondale Elementary School, Crystal Park School, and Roy Bickell Public School. Together, these school communities are helping students build healthy habits, increase daily physical activity, explore nutritious foods, strengthen leadership skills, and foster a greater sense of belonging.
Today, APPLE Schools reaches more than 40,000 students annually in over 100 schools across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario. With nearly 20 years of evidence-backed impact, APPLE Schools is recognized nationally and internationally for advancing healthy school communities, including being selected as a top 100 global education innovation by HundrED four times.
As a 100% donor-funded organization, APPLE Schools looks forward to connecting with local businesses, community leaders, and partners in Grande Prairie who share a commitment to helping children and families thrive.
