Our guest speaker is Marie Jurcevic, supported by Cindy Park and Kristen Schmidt from ARC Resources.

Marie Jurcevic is the Sustainability Lead at ARC Resources. Marie leads ARC’s ESG reporting and disclosure efforts and she supports the development and integration of sustainability strategy within the organization. Marie has been a corporate sustainability practitioner for almost 12 years. She has held sustainability roles at Enbridge and Canadian Business for Social Responsibility.

In June 2020, Marie co-founded a non-profit organization called Diversity in Sustainability. The organization is aimed at promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the field of sustainability.

Marie has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary and a Masters of Science in Sustainability from the Faculty of Management at the University of Bath (UK). When she is not working, Marie is an avid volunteer. She supports various initiatives dedicated to education and mentoring.

Kristen Schmidt is a digital communications advisor in the external communications team at ARC Resources. Currently, she supports crisis response, media relations, website management and social media for ARC Resources. She has worked in the energy industry for the better part of the last decade, with diverse experiences including downstream marketing, knowledge management, Indigenous relations, community relations, media relations and digital communications. Kristen is passionate about authentic storytelling, and finds opportunities to implement strategic communications and innovative digital campaigns.

She has two degrees from the University of Calgary in Marketing and Sociology, and is an active volunteer sitting on the board for Open Arms Patient Advocacy Society. Outside of work, Kristen can be found experimenting as an amateur baker or playing with her malamute shepherd named Luna.
