Join us for the Work Shop Your Business Series—focused, hands-on workshops designed to tackle real business challenges and deliver practical solutions. Each 2-hour session is presented by local Chamber Member experts.

This course is geared towards small to medium sized business owners looking to gain insights into strategic financial planning, including bookkeeping and tax fundamentals that will help them reduce risk of CRA headaches and optimize their taxes.  Topics will include the following, but will be customized and tweaked during the presentation to meet the needs of the audience.  There will be plenty of opportunities for questions and participation!

  • Business structure (corporation versus sole prop.)
  • Building a business plan
  • Financial statements overview ~ Budgeting & cash-flow management
  • Setting aside cashes for taxes
  • Bookkeeping fundamentals 
  • Sales tax essentials
  • Tax tips & dealing with the CRA - catered to audience

Meet Your Presenter: Shawn Gander(Simplify Accounting)


Born and raised in Alberta, Shawn has over 10 years of business & accounting experience, including working for publicly traded companies and a national accounting firm. He loves to help small business owners reduce their accounting headaches so that they can focus on what’s important to them. Shawn has two beautiful daughters and enjoys dirt biking, working out, archery and snowboarding.
