Budget 2011 Brings an End to off-road Fuel Tax Rebates

Following the release of Alberta’s 2011 budget, the government is in the process of phasing out the off-road fuel tax rebate program for all industries except agriculture.

But if you’re still sitting on old fuel receipts, don’t worry, there’s still one last chance to get money through the rebate program before it is completely eliminated. Fuel purchased between January 1, 2008 and February 24, 2011 is still eligible for the rebate.

Deadlines based on year of fuel purchase:
January - December 2008: December 31, 2011
January - December 2009: December 31, 2012
January - December 2010: December 31, 2013
January 1 - February 24, 2011: December 31, 2014

These changes will not impact the Alberta Farm Fuel Distribution Allowance. At time of distribution, the farm fuel rebate is still in place.

Chamber member Fuel Rebate Consultants specializes in the Alberta fuel tax rebates, with expertise gained through fifteen years of experience in government, reviewing and paying out claims.

The company hosted a Lunch & Learn for Chamber members interested in the program in April 2010, and will host another Tuesday, April 26, 2011 as they are continuing to file rebates for clients until the program is completely phased out (Dec. 31, 2014).
