Guest Speaker: Margot Micallef, chair and CEO, Vista Broadcast Group Inc.
Biography: Margot M. Micallef, QC, LLB., Co-founded Vista Radio Ltd. in 2004 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Micallef serves as the President of Oliver Capital Partners Inc., a company she founded in 2003 through which Ms. Micallef provides M & A Advisory and Corporate Finance services to public and private companies. Ms. Micallef serves as Counsel of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP where she assists the Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in the creation and launch ... of strategic initiatives and is available to assist lawyers and clients of the Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and governance matters. She serves as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Vista Broadcast Group Inc. and Executive Chair of Subway Developments 2000 Inc. She serves as President of Deal Advisors Inc. From 1993 to 2003, Ms. Micallef served as Senior Vice President of Law, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Shaw Communications Inc. Prior thereto, she was a Partner with Russell and Dumoulin (now Fasken Martineau DuMoulin) in Vancouver, British Columbia and was a co-instructor for the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia. She has been Chairman of Canada's Pizza Delivery Corp. since January 23, 2007. Ms. Micallef has been a Director of Solium Capital Inc. since May 2010. She has been a Director of Enmax Corp. since 2003 and The Cambrian House Inc. since March 2009. She served as a Director of CanWest Global Communications Corp. from January 2009 to June 14, 2010. Ms. Micallef was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 2002. She is an Adjunct Professor in governance and ethics for the MBA Program at the University of Alberta and is on the Faculty of the Directors College, a joint venture between McMaster University and the Conference Board of Canada. She holds Bachelor of Laws from University of British Columbia.
